Hello friends, I have an indecent
proposal for you today!
Fancy joining me and fellow Leicester
blogger, Kat, for a day of unimaginable fun at the Birmingham Rag Market on Saturday 3 November? I know a lot of you are starting to
plan your autumn/winter sewing and some of you are even hoping to sew
Christmas gifts, so it'll be a chance to snap up some supplies
cheaply.
For those of you already contemplating
travel logistics, you just need to get to Birmingham New
Street where we'd all meet and the market is just a short walk
away.
Kat and I will happily organise the
outing in full, so for now it would be really helpful to get an idea
of who would like to come. So please leave a comment below and don't
forget to include an email address if it's not listed on your blog.
If you need convincing, look no further! Have you ever seen two happier bloggers than
Winnie and Catherine? The picture was taken on our little trip
to said market back in May and if you check out my post about the day, you'll understand exactly why we were all so giddy!
P.S. I realise the irony of organising a trip like this after my stash busting post, but I'm not going for the fabric! I'm just going for the pleasure of your company of course ;o)
YO. I am in!
ReplyDeleteYay, I was hoping you would as you don't live far!!!
DeleteYes please Marie :-)!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Claire, although now I'm feeling under pressure to organise as amazing a meet-up as you did ;o)
DeleteI'll be there!
ReplyDeleteYessss! Looking forward to seeing you again!
DeleteMe too...
ReplyDeleteExcellent, it's been too long!
DeleteI'd love to come! I've been to the rag market before but didn't have a lot of luck - think I might need some pro's to show me how it's done!
ReplyDeleteFab, I hope you have better luck this time! The thing with the rag market is that it's not necessarily the best for quality, but you can find some decent stuff for very good prices ;o)
DeleteI would really love to come, and I think I'll be free! How exciting! Please add me to the list, I'd love to finally meet you Marie!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that's so exciting...I'll be so happy to meet you!
DeleteThis sounds like so much fun, I love blogger meet ups!
ReplyDeleteI think it's achievable for me to get to Birmingham and back in a day from Glasgow so please keep me in mind for the next Birmingham meet up as it's ideal for me to have 2 or 3 months notice so I can get a train that isn't super-expensive. Sadly not very 'spur of the moment' but if you're thinking of any meet ups next year do let me know!
Loook forward to seeing your review of the day x
Ooooh, I'm so sorry Kerry! I really wish I'd put this idea out there earlier as I'd love to meet you! It just means we'll have to do another one in the new year and I'll give you plenty of notice! I'm actually so impressed that you would come all this way ;o)
DeleteDon't worry, I could probably do without the temptation to buy any more fabric just now! :) But next year sounds great!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteYeah, yeah, like, we believe you. Thankfully, there will be witnesses there, to tell us what you did (not) buy!
ReplyDeleteLet's just say that the stash-busting post never existed. And, if by any chance, you don't buy any fabric for you after all, buy it instead of me (like I was there)! I'll justify the action, OK?
Oh, I wish I could come!
Haha, ok then! I'll just lie and say I bought it for you ;o)
DeleteOh go on then, but don't let me buy as much this time!! Definitely hankering after more jersey....and corduroy for my minoru
ReplyDeleteYay Winnie, so glad you can make it...you are the poster child for the rag market after all ;o) I promise to stop you from buying too much, as long as you stop me back!!
DeleteI'm in I'm in!!! Yay - finally I can make it to a get together!
ReplyDeleteExcellent news!!!
DeleteOh man I wish I could come, but am getting back from holiday the day before. Now I live nearby I'd definitely be up for a Birmingham meet-up in the future though.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame you can't make it, but fingers crossed for next time! Have a great holiday ;o)
DeleteI SO wish I could come! Love the market. If you organise another one next July when I'm back in the UK I'm in ;)
ReplyDeleteOooh, now there's an idea! If you let me know nearer the time what dates you'll be around, I'll defo organise a trip in July!
DeleteWoo wonderful idea, can I come please? I've always been so envious of these gettogethers, so was delighted that I can actually make it to this one! I shall bring some patterns etc that I no longer want with me too so I can participate in the "exchange programme" :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for suggesting it Marie!
It would be awesome to meet you, of course you can come! Please reply with your email so I can send you a message with all the details..
DeleteCount me in! I have nothing planned so unless there's some unexpected emergency I will be there :)
ReplyDeleteYesss, brilliant stuff!
DeleteHow fun! Can't wait to see photos from the day!
ReplyDeleteOh man, how cool if you had happened to be in the UK at the same time! Maybe I'll get to meet you in NYC one day...!
DeleteHi Marie, I'm looking to book my train tickets from London in advance - do you have a rough idea re: the meet-up time at Birmingham New Street station please? I can then sort myself out with the right train times :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Claire
Hello! I'm keen if I can find a train because I'd love to meet everyone.
ReplyDeletePlease let me know when you've got a rough time sketched out :-D what time did you go last time?
Hi there, if you let me have your email address I can send you all the information...I can't seem to find one on yor blog!
DeleteOooh, I'd like to!
ReplyDeleteI came to Winnie & Debbie's trip last year and met some lovely people.
I've never attended a blogger meet-up, I'd love to come!
ReplyDeleteHi there, if you let me have your email address I can send you all the information...I can't seem to find one on yor blog!
DeleteHi just got back into the sewing thing which was triggered just by reading all your blogs - thank you all for the inspiration. I have lots of vintage pattern fabrics stashed but really looking for basic plains for work clothes. Have a few 60's (very Mad Men)/70's vintage patterns too which I'll gladly bring along (don't suit my body type). Not been to Birmingham market for a long time let me know further details.
ReplyDeleteThat's really heart-warming to hear! And I know exactly how that feels, because it's other people's blogging that inspires me to carry on!
DeleteIt would be brilliant if you could join us! I can't find your email address on your blog though, so please leave it below and I'll forward you all the relevant details ;o)
Thanks for your response my email is mroome60@gmail.com
DeletePlease can you send me details so I can check train prices? I'd love to join you if possible!
ReplyDeleteHi Flossie, of course I can! Can you leave your email address below though...I can't seem to find it on your profile and I don't think you have a blog?!? Thanks!
DeleteHello again
ReplyDeleteMy email is a.e.weir@gmail.com
Blog is www.flossieinstitches.com
And my real name is Alice :)
Excellent, just emailed you ;o)
DeleteDoh, I can't make it on that day (which sucks as I actually live in Birmingham!)- but you guys should definitely check out the Fancy Silk Store and Barry's Fabrics, which are just round the corner from the Rag Market- they have a massive selection, and I find the quality is a bit better than the raggy too :)
