Forgive me for sharing a non-stitching post with you today, but the stormy weather we've experienced in the Midlands in the space of a few hours has been extraordinary - so much so that it made the national news! I snapped a few pictures on my Samsung Galaxy SII and I was lucky enough to get them published on the local paper's website, which also features loads of incredible films and photos of the flash floods, gigantic hail, scary lightning and tornado (yes, a tornado in England)!

It's not your expected summer weather, but pretty spectacular, no?!?
What's it been like where you are in the UK? Were you lucky enough to get bypassed, or did you experience similar conditions?
Today for the first time ever I saw lightening that was pink and purple - pretty but bizarre at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWow, that sounds incredible!
DeleteWowza! Crazy summer weather!
ReplyDeletecrazy english weather.. we had a wonderful warm day today !
ReplyDeleteLucky!!!
Deleteoh wow- i think you have had more extreme than us - heavy rain, yes, winds too & when the sun comes out it is warm ,, but no hail, thunder or tornados! that,'s exciting!
ReplyDeleteIt's been warm here too Winnie, just with the added excitement ;o)
DeleteSouth-east coast was pretty tame today ... mostly murky, really. We did have some fast change between sun one moment, misty the next, though ...
ReplyDeleteYou got lucky I guess!
DeleteWow that's extreme weather D:
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was very surreal!
Deleteit was pitch black here in Boston, followed by an HUGE downpour. Then it was gone, just like that. There was flooding locally, but we didn't have any problems, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteIt's such extreme weather isn't it?!?
DeleteWe had really bad weather but much earlier at about 8.00a.m I have never seen so much rain and it was so dark all my automatic lights came on.I did take several videos of the mass of water flowing down the street but as most of them involve me talking heatedly to the cat I did not put them on the blog...there is one though of the rain when the worst of the storm passed. We should count ourselves lucky as one man died near here in the storm.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of black cloud!
Yes, we really are very lucky indeed! I wanted your film of the rain...crazy stuff!
DeleteThat first photo is awesome! Weather here has just been grey, wet, cold and windy - pretty normal!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, it's sad what we call normal eh!?
Deletefunky weather! i'm in Northern California. it's been 90 degrees:)
